42nd ANNUAL STANFORD POWWOW & INDIAN ART MARKET

MAY 10-12, 2013

The Stanford American Indian Organization (SAIO) will host the 42nd Annual Stanford Powwow on May 10-12, 2013 on the Stanford University campus.  The Powwow will be held in the Eucalyptus Grove at Galvez and Campus Drives.  The Stanford Powwow is open to the public and overnight camping spaces are available.  Donations for parking are welcome.

The Stanford Powwow begins on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 PM with the first Grand Entry of dancers and continues until 10:00 PM.  On Saturday, May 11, the 17th Annual Stanford Powwow Run, a 5K race and 1 mile youth run, will begin at 8:00 AM.  Registration for the run ends at 7:40 AM. Dancing will continue from noon until 10:00 PM.  On Sunday, May 12, dancing will continue from noon until 6:00 PM.  Also open throughout the three-day event are more than 100 arts and crafts, souvenir, information, and food booths.

The Powwow is a celebration of Native cultures through traditional songs, dances and events.  An attendance of over 25,000 is expected, making it the largest student-run powwow in the United States and one of the largest events of its kind on the West Coast.

Canopy Set-up

Canopies can be set up after 1pm on Friday, May 11th. Any canopies placed prior to that will be asked to remove their canopies until 1pm. This is for the sake of safety and efficiency for our facilities and security teams during our set up. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

No basketball tournament this year

Unfortunately there will be no basketball 3 on 3 tournament this year. It was a memorial tournament and last year was the fourth and final year.
